Other IDHS Forensic Responsibilities
Emergency Transfer to Maximum Security
When an individual presents serious behavior management problems, IDHS may authorize an emergency transfer to Chester Mental Health Center, the state's only maximum-security inpatient facility.
Illinois Offender Registration Acts
When individuals are discharged from IDHS facilities or programs, IDHS is responsible for notifying them of their duty to register under applicable Illinois registration acts.
Jail-Based Mental Health
The Jail-Based Mental Health program provides mental health services to individuals with forensic legal status who are waiting in jail for inpatient placement to an IDHS facility.
